Web Profits, Adwords, Magic Spells And Online profit.

web profitsThis article is going to inform you about my experience of using Google adwords to try and make web profits. This is going to be a long rant and I am going to get energised if you know what I mean, so you have been warned!

Well what can I say, Google, Google, Google, you guys are a pain in the A^*S!  Sorry readers but you will understand shortly. My first experience of using the Google adwords to make web profits was in mid 2010 when I put together a blog using a not so magical system to build autoblogs to make web profits but that’s another story in itself….

But before then I had bought a course from another couple of Guru’s AM & AN about Pay Per Click traffic which was very good, but these guys let me down as well. Do notice a pattern here? Please read “Can you Ever Trust Internet Marketing Gurus”

Web Profits Are Go….

Still back to my story, my site was built with about 100 pages of copied content from other sites with an accredited link back to each site. Yes I know this is duplicate content but at that time Google did accept that as all the content had links back. The offer I was promoting was free make up samples to make web profits, hummm… I hear you thinking, a guy promoting women’s make up! Well yes that’s a good market ladies and gentlemen. So the clue is, go where the money is being spent for maximum web profits but again that’s yet another discussion.

I had my Nice put together a you tube video for me that introduced the site to visitors and I thought that was a nice touch. We had all the pre-requisites that Google required namely, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, About Us, Contact page and a site map. There were plenty of links to other articles with different categories and the site looked good and I thought we are on our way to making  web profits at last!

Web Profits Warning!

To get maximum web profits I set up both a search and display campaigns and launched the ads on Google. Well the ads ran for about two months and my click costs were reducing every day so I thought this is going to be good for my make money web businesses and my web profits.

Well then one day Google stop running the ads and informed me that I was not complying with their policy’s etc. So that was the end of any expected web profits from that site. The reason they gave me was because although the landing page for my site was the actual page were the visitor ended up, I had a tracking site details as the destination URL and they considered this to be a bridge page.

At this stage, my Click Through Rate (CTR) (number of clicks per 100 impressions) was around 16.2% with a 8.4% conversion factor with Cost Per Click (CPC)of $0.07, so on track to nearly double my money. The offer payout was $1.25 per email submit. So this was looking good for my online web profits.

So I complied with Google’s request, direct instruction and removed the tracking site stuff. This was quite annoying as in business you need stability to make web profits. In other words, a regular steady dependable income online. But to get to that point you need to be able to test and track what works best, to be able to make maximum web profits.

So the ads ran again and the click costs were now down at $0.05 per click and I was just starting to make to make good web profits online, when the ads stop running again!

I contacted Google to find that they had changed their policy’s again and now my site was considered as “Arbitrage” as more than 30% of the landing page was taken up with promoting the offer. This was because the Video, banner and words below it were more than half the page. No good for web profits!!

So once again I changed the site so less than 30% of the landing page could be considered as “Arbitrage” and I even moved the banner so that it could not be seen without scrolling and asked Google to re-activate. This is not a good practice because if you do not attract someone attention within a few seconds visitors will be gone from your site as soon as you can say Google B£$&&^!ds. Sorry….If a visitor to a site has to scroll to find something they probably will not do that, so any potential web profits go out the window.

But to my dismay they refused and still said it did not meet their terms and conditions. When I asked them what the problem was I just got the generic email response blah blah blah ….. AAAAAAAAAAGH! This is not good for my web businesses.

So I reluctantly deleted both campaigns. Although this does not matter to Google as now they know that I own those two sites. So in essence they are telling me what I can have on my site.

Fast forwards to April 2011. I put together a 14 page site all with unique content that I paid someone to write for me. By the way you can check a site content uniqueness by using copyscape.com. This was so I could comply with the latest Google update and give provide good relevant info for my visitors.

There were optin forms on pages on the site and I had a cloaked link on my home page which I believed was OK as it was not on the landing page from the Adwords ads and so I set up the ads and let it rip.

………….awaiting web profits

But again my ads did not show up and Google said it was because of the link that they had actually clicked that linked to a clickbank offer. Well how the hell is someone supposed to promote affiliate offers Mr 800 Pound Google Gorilla!?!

Now the only way to make any money would be promoting offers via my email list. But I wanted to get some quick profits off the bat when someone visited for Pete’s sake!! So that is the end of having any links on your site even to the likes of Amazon or anywhere else.

I removed the link and contacted Google once more to be told the link was still on the site. This was strange I thought as I had removed it from the home page. Then I checked my site again and could not see any link until I checked the source code and there is was on my thank you page – of course I thought I had forgotten all about that one, so to be fair to Google in that case they were correct. Shame they are NOT fair to their other customers, namely their advertisers!

In an effort to be open with visitors I added a disclaimer page that highlighted the fact that I was an affiliate marketeer who could make a commission if people bought a product through a link and the opinions on the site were my own so not to be

miss-leading in any way. I even put a copy of this on my home page!

So I contacted them again and said sorry but all the links have been removed and guess what they said.

Your Account Is Permanently Suspended, What the F&*$!

I could not believe this, what was so wrong about what I had done?? I had tried to comply with every instruction. They said now that my site was misleading and promoting un-substantiated products?

I contacted Google and asked them to actually tell me what the actual problem was and where on the site it was. But as usual they just came back with their generic answer “we cannot answer specific questions blah blah blah blah etc.

This is a bit like going to your doctor and saying I have an illness and the Doctor reply’s “Well you need some pills”. So you ask what pills and he says,” You need some pills”. And so it goes on.

Google that’s really helpful for your customer namely, ME! NOT! so no more web profits with adwords then.

So I did a bit more research and checked other sites to find that Google allows ads promoting magic spells?! And they are telling me that my site is miss-leading?!

It gets even worse. Even though I deleted those two campaigns as Google knows those sites are mine they will always be associated with my Adwords account. So unless I make major changes to those sites I will not be able to advertise with Google for any other web sites. What!!!!!

You’re having a laugh Google! Other sites I found promoting similar products were just one page opt in sites and they are approved?!!! I just wanted to make web profits and tell the world how great Google Adwords is!!

You allow sites that advertise magic spells?!! And I am making un substantiated claims??? So if you want to make web profits forget it with this lot.
